American music webzine Peacedogman has reviewed our new album "Re-Fuse"and
they really, really like what they hear. "This is what pop-punk in this dayand
age should sound like" and they call it a "killer punk album that never wears
out". They also say that now when Jay Reatard sadly has passed away Zoopartys
Erik Pettersson is gonna take over. Thanks a lot!!!! We really appreciate
it!!! Read it here: http://www.peacedogman.com/reviews/071010zoo.htm
or here: · ZOOPARTY - "Re-Fuse", 2010 (Acme) · Classic pop-punk
retooled. Now that JAY REATARD has milked the mortal coil it appears
that ZOOPARTY vocalist/guitarist Erik Petterson is gonna take over. While
sonically “Re-Fuse” takes slightly less chances on production than say Jay’s
“Blood Visions”, the classic sound is there with the quality songwriting and
lyrics to go with it. This is definitely more SEX PISTOLS than WIRE and in
fact Glen Matlock plays guitar the way you would expect Steve Jones to on
half the tunes here. This is what pop-punk in this day and age should sound
like. In an abated era when Billy Joe GREEN DAY wears guyliner and people
are getting pumped up on account of a BLINK 182 reunion, an anathema like
ZOOPARTY has to come along and remind everyone what time it really is. Cheesy
they are definitely not. It ain’t in their vocabulary. Just about every song
on this disc is a keeper and repeated listens are as easy as beer thirty (for
yours truly that is). “Bring The Bored”, “General Cutter”, “The Nevers”, “We
Have The Right to Know What’s Wrong”, “Die” and other greats round out a killer
punk album that never wears out its welcome. 2010-08-04 Zooparty
is ready for the Rebellion!! As we told you before we will play at the Rebellion
Festival in Blackpool, UK, on friday August 6 at the Empress Ballroom together
with Stiff Little Fingers, The Rezillos and Department S - just to mention
a few. As a teaser of what will come national radio in Sweden will do an interview
with the band live from Blackpool at 09.00 swedish time (08.00 UK time) on
friday morning on the radioshow "Go´morron Östergötland" at P4 Radio Östergötland.
If you´re not in Sweden you can listen to it here: http://sverigesradio.se/sida/default.aspx?programid=442 2010-08-03

In the latest number of Big Cheese Magazine, on of the biggest rock/punk
magazines in the UK, there's an interview with Darren from Rebellion Festivals.
He got the question what new bands to look out for at this years Rebellion
Festival in Blackpool, UK, and Zooparty were one of the bands he mentioned.
Thanks a lot Darren, we really appreciate it! See ya August 5-8. Zooparty
play the main stage Friday August 6. 2010-06-27 The
song "Anymore" was played last sunday on "No Escape" on Radio 666 in France,
one of Zoopartys favourites. "Anymore" is the second song Zooparty wrote,
rehearsed and recorded. (The first of them all was "Smile") and was included
on the very first record the "Smile- EP" which included "Smile" and the B-sides
"Anymore" and "Is this all we need?". Brian James from the Damned played guitar
on all three of them and Glen Matlock from Sex Pistols produced them, played
guitar on them and mixed them together with Erik. And remember: When these
songs were recorded the band had existed for two months and was still unnamed.
Excellent choice to play that one, "No Escape"!!! It brought back a lot of
memorys - and it´s an fucking excellent song! If you want your own copy of
the "Smile" CD three song EP it´s just 3 euro + postage. Send us an e-mail
at myspace or at zoo-party@hotmail.com and we sort things out. "No Escape"

first EP. * "Raised on boredom, "Laying low is not what we do", "The Nevers",
"Criminals police the criminals", "General Cutter", "Die", "Neat Freak"
and "Bring the Bored" twice, "We have the right to know what´s wrong" twice
and "C´Mon" twice!!!! All from our new album "Re-Fuse"!! You can all listen

Cheers "Punk Britannia"!!!! 2010-06-03 Big Cheese
Magazine, one of the biggest punk/rock magazines in the UK - and the world
-has posted a review of Zoopartys new album "Re-Fuse". And they really like
what they hear: ZOOPARTY RE-FUSE (Acme) Swedish punks with swish
songs 4/5 Swedish outfit Zooparty's debut 2007 album 'You Are Here' was justly
well received, and with 'Re-Fuse' they follow it up in fine style. Again they
are joined by illustrious personages Glen Matlock and Brian James on guitars,
and again Zooparty have comeup with a collection of bouncy, tuneful, smoothly
produced '77-style punk rock songs. The staccato guitars on 'Laying Low Is Not
What We Do' immediately catch the ear, while the Brian James-produced 'Die'
is a little more rough 'n' ready than most, but none the worse for that. Shane
Baldwin You can check out this review, and many more here 2010-05-30

to Luke in The Nerks, Rich in The Septic Psychos and all others who let us
use their gear. And to the Drongos for Europe for dedicate a song to us. Back
on the road after that and back in London at 5 in the morning. Then Erik went
up at 8 to get breakfast with Glen Matlock. It was good to see him again.
Glen has a lot of things coming up including an Australian tour with Robert
Gordon and a brand new album called "Born Running". Then the whole band went
to the Bridgehouse 2 in London to support the Members together with The Fuze
and our friends in Wonk Unit. As you may rememeber Wonk Unit was the band
Zooparty toured the UK with in november last year. It was great to see Alex
and Tommy again and meet their new drummer Adam. Wonk Unit is back in the
studio working on their new album together with Duncan from Snuff and Toy
Dolls (just to mention a few). The Members closed the night with great set
of songs including some new from their upcoming album. Then on sunday the
flight went back to Sweden. Thanks to all the people who helped us during
the weekend. We really appreciate it. And thanks all of you who came down
to see us, and bought our records. And an extra special thanks to Lenny and
Per Etzell who made all this possible. You´re the best! Cheers! 2010-03-22

the NEW YORK DOLLS are confirmed for Rebellion Festival in Blackpool UK in
August. That means that the line up for the four day festival, so far, includes
Zooparty, The Godfathers, Stiff Little Fingers, Bad Religion, Discharge, UK

mention a few. For more info and tickets: http://www.rebellionfestivals.com/
2010-03-01 Suburban Voice On-Line, the on-line page
for american Suburban Voice fanzine, has posted a review of Zoopartys new
album Re-Fuse. And they really like what they hear: ZOOPARTY-Re-Fuse
(ACME, CD) The term '77-inspired punk is often bandied about, including by
your faithful scribe, but what does it really mean? Ramones? Sure... but going
across the pond, it can also encompass such bands as the Boys, Lurkers and,
of course, Pistols. Well, Zooparty conjure up those bands on their latest
and, just to reinforce things, bring along some heavy-hitters for "Re-Fuse."
Glen Matlock from the Pistols/Rich Kids and Brian James from the Damned are all
over this record, contributing some tasteful guitar scorch, Thunders toss-offs
and the like. Well-tread rockin' punk but damn if it doesn't do the trick
with the songs' formidable hook-craft. Every buzzin' guitar line and harmonious
backing vocal perfectly in place for a rousing good time. (PO Box 441, Dracut,

Thanks a lot!! We really appreciate it!!! 2010-02-20 Another
great review of our new album "Re-Fuse". This one´s from american magazine
Razorcake. Cheers! We really appreciate it! ZOO PARTY: Re-Fuse: CD New records
featuring work, especially guest work, by old punk luminaries can be dicey
propositions. Too often the luminaries in question have long moved past their
former punk personas and any attempts to reconnect come off as either trading
in their name for a quick payday or a textbook case of what happens when you
forget what you were about. This is not the case here. Zoo Party is a Swedish
band that delivers rock-solid tunes heavily influenced by the first wave of
........U.K. punk bands. While the lyrics aren’t exactly Thoreau, the tunes
are catchy and well delivered. Best of all, the old punk luminaries guesting
here— The Damned’s Brian James and Sex Pistol Glen Matlock— actually add, rather
than detract, heft to the proceedings. Gotta say, this is one of the better releases
in this style I’ve heard in a while. –Jimmy Alvarado (Acme) You

2010-02-16 One of Zoopartys favourite radioshows,
"The Late Risers Club´on WMBR 88.1 FM in Boston recently played "The Nevers"
from our new album "Re-Fuse". Earlier they played "Neat Freak" twice, "Laying
low is not what we do" "General Cutter" "Bring the bored", "Criminals police
the criminals" three times and "We have the right to know what´s wrong" three
times!!! All you wonderful peaople at Late Risers´Club: We love you!!! 2010-02-15
The greatest Sex Pistols site, "God save the Sex Pistols", really
like our new album and has posted the following reveiw. They also published
pictures from the recordings with Glen Matlock in Stockholm, Sweden, pictures
when he played live with Zooparty at Mosebacke Stockholm, studioreport and
link to Amazon where you can buy it!!!!
"A corker of punk rock album.
I've been playing the latest offering by Sweden's Zooparty since its release
in October last year; I made it one of my choices of 2009 in my Editorial.
It's time to give it a bigger plug. Why? Because it's pretty damn good. And
it's bolstered by the involvement of both Glen Matlock and The Damned's Brian
James. As mentioned in the report below, Glen played guitar on Raised On Boredom,
The Nevers, Bring The Bored, We Have The Right To Know What's Wrong, C´mon
and General Cutter. Brian James chips in with distinctive scuzzy lead breaks
on C'Mon and We Have The Right... Punchy and powerful, and sung in English,
this trio of die hard punks tear through anti-authority anthems as though
it was 1977. “We were raised on boredom, now we're raising hell” they scream
like men possessed. It must be pretty grim over in Sweden. These guys are
not happy; “bring a book with a happy ending” they urge during their opening
gambit. Strangely enough, Re-fuse will leave you feeling pretty good about
yourself. It's well produced, full throttle, and energetic. If you fancy taking
a punt on some derivative punk rock action from the continent, give ZooParty
a try. Can you refuse? Review by Phil Singleton (February 2010)" They
posted it here: http://www.philjens.plus.com/rattle/glen_production.htm

Yet another amazinly punk as fuck release by sweden's Zooparty, welcome "Re-fuse"

that deals with the seriousness of depression of the youth of today and the
peer pressures of being accepted.then onto the song"The Nevers"which is obviously
about never conforming.this album is yet another classic punk record by the
great punk elite zooparty!. Catchy and poppy this record is just a party
in your pants. Pick it up,lots of spunky punk waiting to happen and definatley
not disappoint. Brian James from the Damned and Glen matlock from the Sex

fanzine, radio show and record label Maximum Rocknroll really love our new
album "Re-Fuse". In their latest issue of their fanzine, number 320, the
have the following review: "Sweden does it again with another brilliant
melodic punk band, Zooparty could be members of Smalltown and Randy playing
together, they're that good. They have a very sharp, catchy, clean sound
that makes it very hard to sit still. They also have definite pop sensibilities
and with some crazy songwriting and backup vocals I thought of the Rezillos
and the Toy Dolls. The Ramones would be a more obvious influence of course,
but this is anything but copycat--they have a very original sound that bursts
with energy and hooks. There is also guest playing by none other than Glen
Matlock and Brian James! (It's true too; there are pictures!) This is brilliant.
If you like your punk catchy as hell then I can't recommend this enough...
So am I the last person to hear of Zooparty??" Thanks a lot!!! We

"Re-Fuse" is number 19. Cheers!!! 2009-11-22 As
you may know Nisse Hellberg from swedish rocklegends Wilmer X has co-written
a song on "Re-Fuse". Now Nisse Hellberg has heard the full album and he really
likes it: "Really good! It brings me back to those rockning years when Wilmer
X played a lot of these kind of songs. Great to hear that you´re keeping it
real." Erik wrote the song "Die" and Zooparty recorded it at Studio 284 in
Brighton, UK, with Brian James ex-member of the Damned as producer. But after
the recordings Erik realized that the song was very similar to the Wilmer
X song "Gå hela vägen". So the band took it off the first album "You are
here", and Erik got in contact with Nisse Hellberg who wrote "Gå hela vägen".
Nisse liked what he heard and gave his permission to Zooparty to release
the song. After Zooparty checked with Nisses publisher Anders Larsson at
United Stage they released "Die" on "Re-Fuse" with the song credits "Lyrics:
Erik Pettersson, music: Nisse Hellberg". Thanks Nisse Hellberg and Anders
Larsson. We´re really appreciate it! 2009-11-20 More

ZOOPARTY-REFUSE (CD-ACME RECORDS ACME 27) "Another time so have
they got Brian James and Glen Matlock into their record. I maybe wrong but
I think I can hear Matlocks guitar and Zooparty have a Pistols -similar sound
in some of the songs and that I appreciate as an old punkman I am. Because
the opposite of what man people think so do I think that Pistols is among
one of the worlds best punkband. That have Zooparty taking care of together with
a lot of other influences from the early punk and I think they have a little bit
of own sound in this anyway. Listen only to General Cutter so do you understand
what I mean….that here is it energy as many other band..s missing and
musicknowledge also and a lot of fucking good punksongs and for you who wants
to hear music in the same style as SLF, Pistols etc.(EIGHT)" 2009-10-22

a review of Zoopartys new album " RE-FUSE" and they really like what they
hear!!They call us one of Swedens best punkbands, that there isn´t a weak
track on the album and give us four ot of five!!! Thanks a lot!!!!!!
You can read at http://www.uddevallakassetten.se/
samarbetar med, Brian James från The Damned, Lords Of The New Church och
Zooparty! Favoritspår "We have the right to know what´s wrong". Låtlista:
1. Bring the bored 2. C´Mon 3. General Cutter 4. Insane 5. The Nevers 6. Neat
Freak 7. Intro 8. We have the right to know what´s wrong 9. Raised on boredom
10. Criminals police the criminals 11. Laying low is not what we do 12. Die"
L. Wallin 2009-10-09 Zooparty har once

2009-06-08 * Another great review of our album "You
are here". American fanzine Gravyzine really like it. Check it out: OK, Zooparty
are from Sweden and they have the rubber stamp of Out Cold's John Evicci
so what more do you need to know? Anthemic, melodic punk, with a large dash
of UK 77 sound and attitude, and the odd nod to Detroit legends the Stooges.
Shades of the Damned, Lurkers, Pistols and the Buzzcocks, all done with the
trademark flair that Swedish bands seem to bring to the table, and topped
off by guest appearances from Glen Matlock and Brian James. There's
no standout track on this CD simply because all 12 tracks scream quality.
If you love punk rock you really need to check this band out. Ian Pickens

and the reviewsection. 2009-06-07 * "Give it up" is

upcoming Zooparty album. Erik wrote the song "Die" and Zooparty recorded
it at Studio 284 in Brighton, UK, with Brian James ex-member of the Damned
as producer. But after the recordings the band realized that the song was
very similar to the Wilmer X song "Gå hela vägen". So the band took it of
the first album "You are here", and Erik got in contact with Nisse Hellberg
who wrote "Gå hela vägen". Nisse liked what he heard and gave his permission
to Zooparty to release the song. After Zooparty checked with Nisses publisher
Anders Larsson at United Stage they are ready to release "Die" on their upcoming

pieces in the puzzel. Now the recordings will be given to Jörgen Wärnström at

copy of the Zooparty album. Maybe he will play it at his radioshow.
Thanks once again Glen for all your help with tickets and passes, and for
being our friend. * This review is taken from a dutch magazine:
Zooparty 'You Are Here' cd (Acme/Sonic Rendezvous) 60 points (out of 100)
The Swedish Zooparty didn't get the worst known musicians on their debut
album. Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols) and Brian James (ex-The Damned) play a
little part. If you don't know it those guest appearances aren't really noticed.
The Swedish boys make melodic punkrock. A nice record, but not very special.
Minus are the somewhat monotonous vocals, that cause the songs to sound
a lot like eachother. A big scream or growl here and there would have made
'You Are Here' less decent. 2008-06-15 Review of Bad
Chopper and Zooparty albums from Big Takeover #62: "With three-quarters
of the founding Ramones lineup now ticked off this mortal coil and the former
CBGB site transmogrified into high-end designer John Varvatos' museum/boutique
dedicated to its nouveau riche clientele's rock 'n' roll-wannabe jerk-off
fantasies--where vintage Ramones t-shirts run a mere $800 and up--this scribe
is now wondering if the tellingly-adrift Blank Generationcan ever balance
its own checkbook ever again. The fact that Da Brudders' own designer,
Arturo Vega, was just quoted in the NY Times at a Varvatos party while arguing
with a young punkette, protesting the bourgeoisification of punk's true ground
zero, "Work hard and you'll be able to afford," the answer is probably never,
ever again.Mind you, that party--featuring live performances by a reformed
D Generation, Cypress Hill's Sen Dog, Blondie's Clem Burke, and ex-Rage Against
The Machine's Tom Morello, cost a mere $75 a head. So... at least we have
Swedish bands like Zooparty, and post-Dee-Dee-era bassist CJ Ramone's own
Bad Chopper to remind us what the true, pure essence of punk was all about!
As to the music on both discs: they're serviceable Stooges/Ramones-influenced
punk with appearances by ubiquitous legends, the Damned's Brian James and
Sex Pistols' Glen Matlock with Zooparty, and Johnny Thunders' Heartbreakers'
Walter Lure and producer Daniel Rey with Bad Chopper. The standout: Bad Chopper,
who provides an awfully raw, wild 12-song ride in 31 minutes. Both these
bands mean it, maaaan and they are keeping it real without sounding nostalgic.
That and they don't with a heavy price tag, so support these bands!"

website. 'Mr Paul Marco' who run's the site has produced a fascinating
book on the 'other' pivotal punk club of the 1977 period - The Roxy, London WC2.
A club central to the rise and spread of Punk Rock in 1977. A club that
featured an array of major and minor punk acts of the time as well as key
faces on the scene. This is Punk Rock at the Roxy Club with struggling bands,
bad drugs and sometimes even badder music. This is home made fashion, self
mutilation, fast sex and random violence. This is magical nights of being
young and having fun against a backdrop of a subterranean London club, gangsters
and Punk. Featuring candid interviews with bands, club owners and club goers,
and using unseen photos and flyers, this is the truth behind the Punk Rock
legend that was the Roxy Club, you'll be able to buy your very own copy &
have it signed personally by the author on April 24th at our gig at the 100
Club.. Or you can get it here;- http://www.roxyclub77.co.UK/

melodic hooks are gonna take folks by surprise". Thanks! 2008-02-29
* They did it! Again. Vancouver-based punkrock radio program
"Flex Your Head" on CiTR 101.9fm once again had the good taste to play a Zooparty
track. Last night they choosed to play "The Fuse". For the second time.
They also have played "Crime Scene Instigators" and "Smile" before. "Flex
your head", thanks! * And the american Terminal Boredom like our
album. A lot! Thanks! Check this review out: Zooparty “You Are Here”
CD/LP I knew nothing of these guys until the CD landed on my front porch
and I popped it into my CD player. Zooparty is a three-piece punk rock band
straight out of Sweden, fronted by long-time Swedish punk fixture Erik Petterson
and long-time collaborators Per Karlsson. Their sound though undeniably their
own reflects a very 70's punk feel and is both catchy and melodic while still
maintaining a vicious bite. I mean these guys actually SOUND like a punk
rock band that’s formed in 1977 Sweden and not like a band that formed in
2005 out of the ashes of a slew of previous bands they were in Think the
Damned meets the Professionals. Songs that show a distinctive anti-social streak
such as “Trading Happiness For Songs” and “Remember To forget” show you exactly
where this band is coming from. Produced by both Sex Pistols bassist Glen
Matlock and Damned guitarist Brian James. Twelve songs in all. Chalk up another
hit release by Dracut, Massachusettes Acme Records. Recommended.

musicmagazine in Sweden, Groove, like our album a lot and call it "a very
good powerpophistory". In the review in the latest issue the call us "a new,
punkish, swedish powerpopband featuring members from Ewing Oi, Everlone and
Zeb & The Fast Ones" and writes that "the main feeling when you listen to
the album is that it sounds good. The music and the production remind me of The
Professionals, Sex Pistols and Glen Matlocks solostuff". Thanks Groove!
2008-02-25 * The american Maximum Rocknroll #298 put
Zooparty at the reviewers´s top ten list and give us the following review:
"From Sweden, this new band kicks out some decent retro brat punk circa
1979. A mix of the Sex Pistols, Sham 69, and Turbonegro. Guest appearances
by Brian James and Glen Matlock drive home the sound. A good full-length,
although the songs are not terribly original and are a bit predictable. Still,
this is done well and does punk out." 2008-02-22 *

frantic." "ZOOPARTY does one better than all of that by taking "that
sound" (fireworks, chaos, your first kiss, a nice hamburger, cruising in
your car with all the windows down on a nice spring day, etc) and making
it their own." "If you could bottle this shit and sell it you would be rich."

2006-05-14 Rumours travel fast and the last week there
have been articles about Zooparty and their upcoming debut-CD at the following
sites: Blabbermouth.net
"DAMNED, SEX PISTOLS Legends Appear On ZOOPARTY Album" Step
into the night "For the first time since the New Values Tour with Iggy
Pop in 1979, Brian James has worked on the same project as Glen Matlock from
the Sex Pistols." Summer

guitarists Glen Matlock and Brian James". God

is a band that so good that they have been namned Swedens finest even before
they released the first CD. The story of the band began in the spring
of 2005 when Erik Pettersson got a couple of offers to put together a best
of...album with songs from all the bands he played with through the years.
Erik rejected the idea at first. Just put togehter the old songs
one more time didn´t seem that interesting. If there should be an new album,
there should be some new songs. He started to write some songs, and talked
to a couple of friends if they we´re interested to help him out with the recording.
He talked to Ove "Bumba" Hejdeborn. A fantastic drummer who played with Erik
in the band Kvinnan, and of course with Zeb
and the Fast Ones. He talked to Per "Hård-Per" Karlsson, a amazing bassplayer
and guitarist who produced and played with Erik during the years with
Ewing Oi and also
played with Bumba in the band Mudslide. Then he talked one of the
two greatest songwriter of all time, Glen
Matlock, who was willing to produce, mix and play guitar on the recordings.
He also talked to the other greatest songwriter of all time, Brian James,
who loved to play guitar on the new songs. Then the hard work of putting
all things together started. With Glen and Brians tight schedule, there both
busy recording and touring with there own bands it was hard to find time
for the recording sessions. Finally the A-streamstudio
with engineer Henrik Åström in Stockholm, Sweden, was booked the 12-
17/1 -06. Unfortunate Brian couldn´t make it due to privat reasons. But Glen
arrived and the recording sessions could start. Five days of hard work, great
music and lot of fun began. Besides all the work Glen took the opportunity
to test swedish dishes like sill, kanelbulle and rödspätta. With all his
skills and talant Glen made the songs better then the band ever thought they
could sound. Three songs we´re recorded: "Smile", "Is this all we
need" and "Anymore". The riff for "Smile" is taken from the great song
"AMÖ" from one of Hård-Pers old bands
Att mörda en överordnad,
and is written by another friend Niclas Diffstedt. The song was only
released as an demo on casssett in 1984. Now Erik thought it was time to use
the great riff again and wrote the song "Smile" based on the same riff. During
the weekend in Stockholm the band started to feel that the songs, and the
line up, was worth a lot more then just as bonusmaterial on a best of release.
There should be a band, and the band should have a name. Or as Glen
Matlock put it: "With all due respect, Erik: You will not sell many records
with the name Erik Pettersson". A bandname was needed and Bumba came up with
Zooparty. A new band was born. The recordings was sent to Brian
James who took them to engineer Austen Gayton at Studio284,
in Brighton, UK. The 1/3 - 06 Brian recorded great guitarparts to the songs,
and sent them back to Erik. The 16/4-06 Erik and Henrik went back to the
studio to do one final mix of the songs. And that was only
the beginning! |
